Meet the face
behind the posts
Welcome to my site

I'm Jasmine Elizabeth Mendez-Paredes. Yep, it's a mouthful, but you can just call me Jas and save yourself from a tongue twister.

I am Guatemalan-American, and my roots trace back to a remote village where my parents come from—where it's quite normal for people to don cowboy boots, hats, or even carry an armed pistol under their belts. It's like the Wild West meets Central America, a unique blend you won't find just anywhere.
Aside from my cultural heritage, I'm a pianist who enjoys sharing my love for music with others. Little did I know, it was through music where I'd find myself interested in pursuing a career in digital media and corporate communications.

Why Digital Media?
Growing up in the era of YouTube crazes, challenges, and internet sensations, and downloading Instagram at the mere age of 13 was like being part of a trend rollercoaster. Instead of being a passive observer, I felt a deep urge to participate in the digital landscape.
With nothing more than my trusty smartphone and an overflowing sense of youthful enthusiasm, I embarked on a journey to share my love for piano playing with anyone willing to listen.
Just as I invested my passion and skill into every piano melody, I am equally dedicated to assisting brands in effectively communicating their authentic narratives.

As a proud first-generation Latina graduate, I thrive on adaptability and growth. My communication style blends analytical precision with creative insight—allowing me to navigate diverse environments, embrace challenges, and translate complex ideas into clear, effective strategies.

Experience

I am a strategic communicator with an M.S. in Communication Studies and a B.S. in Business Communication, complemented by Minors in Graphic Design and Event Planning.
I have gained hands-on experience through three corporate communication internships with the Maryland Center for History & Culture, the AARP District of Columbia State Office, and SHEIN.
In these roles, I collaborated on developing communication strategies for internal and external audiences, created original content, managed posting schedules across digital platforms, and analyzed data to drive engagement.

Currently, I serve with CBRE Government & Defense Services, where I advanced from call center support to preparing internal reports and performance assessments for leadership. This role strengthened my skills in communication, organization, and project coordination, while also giving me a deep appreciation for serving those who serve our nation.
Across all experiences—whether in a newsroom, design studio, or event venue—I have proven my ability to excel under pressure, adapt quickly, and consistently deliver results. My diverse skill set includes editorial writing, social media strategy, graphic design, video editing, and web design.
While my education and professional experiences are core to who I am, they represent only one side of me. Outside of work, I enjoy strolling through D.C., teaching piano, singing for the choir, exploring TikTok trends, and motorcycle riding in Guatemala.
